Music is in my DNA
I started my own piano lessons when I was five years old. My father was concert master with the Berlin Radio Orchestra and had me reading music before I was reading words. I’ve won national competitions in my native Germany; have performed as soloist, in chamber groups and with orchestras in Europe, South America and here in the United States, including at Carnegie Hall, the 92nd St. Y, the National Arts Club, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and many others.
Performing is one thing; Teaching is another
A history of performing provides me with critical insights for preparing students both technically and psychologically to perform for judges and audiences.
Being a world class pianist doesn't, however; automatically make one a world class teacher. What separates me from others is that, in addition to performing, I have a master's degree in music pedagogy from the UdK in Berlin, one of the most venerable music schools in the world.
When it comes to your piano lessons, my training and experience helps you learn and grow.
Music Education
I teach and perform on the piano. This is not a side-gig. I don't teach guitar or voice or the flute. I have a Master of Music Degree in Piano Pedagogy from the renown Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and have studied with some of the world's foremost music professors. I've given master classes at American universities, as well as for the IWCMF music festival at Mannes School and at the Julliard School in Manhattan. My students regularly receive top scores and glowing reviews in their auditions, competitions, and recitals
Recognized Musician and Engaged Instructor
I am a Steinway Artist; I have recorded on the Steinway Arkiv Music Label and am a judge for the annual Steinway Junior Piano Competition at Steinway Gallery. I also adjudicate National College of Musicians auditions and AMTL concert applications. I am past president of the Associated Music Teachers League, a not-for-profit organization and oldest music education organization in New York, and am a member of the Suffolk Piano Teacher’s Foundation.
